Nanny / Yacht Stewardess
Do you need a Nanny to join you on your yacht charter or holidays? A Nanny who doesn't get sea sick and prepared to jump in the sea, swim with the children and play with the various water toy?
An experienced yacht Nanny can educate your children about the dangers on yachts, general yacht life, what to expect, important dos and don'ts and sleep in a cabin near the children or a joining room since it is often that the master cabin is located on a different deck away from the other guest cabins so having a trusted Yacht Nanny sleep close by can be reassuring for you and the children. Most importantly the Yacht will be their chaperone onboard because there are a number of hazards to be avoided at every turn. Here are a few hazards that children can be protected from when they have a Yacht Nanny:
Number 1 of course is that you are surrounded by water which always poses a risk. Your Yacht Nanny will make sure the children wear life jackets and safe while playing in the water and safe from falling into the water when onboard. The sun is hopefully out during your yacht holiday but it is usually blaring down and also reflects off the water and boat adding extra potential for sun burning and dehydration which isn't obvious if the yacht is moving and there is a lovely breeze. Our Yacht Nannies are on hand to make sure the children are routinely applied with suncream and drinking enough water throughtout the day. There are also small changes to consider when on a yacht such as walking down stairs. Our Yacht Nannies ensure the children hold on to the hand rail everytime they take the stairs as one small wave can knock you off balance. The doors are also heavy fire doors which if left open and not secured can swing and slam shut - extremely painful for small fingers or a knock on the head.
It is not just health and safety issues to consider but also general etiquette onboard and having an awareness of how to act or respond to certain situations. For example, heads (toilets to you and me) and cabin en-suites are often fitted with the highest quality marble floors, walls and basins. If your child had an accident and left it unreported to penetrate into the porous marble it could result in a very costly job to fix running into £10,000s! It is also important to report any spills on the decks and to not wear high heels which can damage the teak decks. Children are welcome on yachts and these problems can easily be fixed if reported straight away. Our Yacht Nannies have worked on superyachts, some even as Chief Stewardesses who have run the entire interior operations, so they know how to respond to accidents so they can be dealt with immediately and cause no permanent damage.
Further, a Yacht Nanny can also provide you with some much needed rest and even the opportunity to have a romantic meal for 2, or uninterupted time with friends.
