A maternity nurse or maternity nanny will provide you with valuable postnatal care which will help establish a routine for you and your newborn baby.
Your maternity nurse can take responsibility for the following:
Often a maternity nurse will live-in and be on call 24 hours but you may decide that he or she only works days or nights. If you decide to have a maternity nurse on call 24 hours or for night care only they will require their own bedroom in your home where the baby will sleep with the maternity nurse and ideally they will have access to their own bathroom so they will not disturb you during any calls for night care. Meals will also need to be available.
